December 2017, Bratislava: CentralNic Plc., a global leader in domain name technology and operations, listed on the London Stock Exchange, announces a significant strategic investment in Slovakia, becoming the owner of SK-NIC, manager of the top level .sk domain. The vendor is Dutch company DanubiaTel Netherlands B.V.

Mr. Peter Bíro will stay in his post as a Director of SK-NIC, and has been appointed by CentralNic to the SK-NIC’s Board of Directors and Commission. He is joined by CentralNic-appointed Head of Communications for SK-NIC Mr. Vladimir Vaňo, who also serves as Economist for CentralNic is. The company will retain all its current staff and is recruiting for additional staff in Slovakia to strengthen the team.
CentralNic will invest into improvements to the SK-NIC services by utilizing a unique technological platform of the Group and through providing new services. The company will support Slovak Internet community by providing quality, resilient and stable services for competitive prices. It will also contribute 5% of SK-NIC´s revenues to the designated fund that will support development of the Slovak digital economy, all in line of the contractual conditions with the Slovak government.
