The Slovak Government announced at a press conference a further lockdown from 5am on Saturday 19 December until at least 10 January.
Main headlines:
- All shops will close except necessary ones (grocery stores, pharmacies, petrol stations, post offices, pet food shops and those delivering goods bought online)
- People from max 2 households are permitted to meet
- No changes to travelling abroad. All neighbouring countries are red, so self-isolation for 5 days and a PCR test on arrival
Exceptions to the lockdown include:
- Travel to work/business
- Travel to buy food, medicine etc – the sale of non-food products in retail chains will be limited
- Travel to care for a close family member or pets
- Travel to buy newspapers, visit the bank, insurance company, post office, pharmacies, hospitals, car/bicycle service, petrol stations, pick up goods bought online
- Travel to get tested
- Travel to a funeral or a wedding of a close person
- Visits of people from 2 households
- Travel to the countryside
- Travel to church
- Travel for recreation (only 2 households are present) and to do individual sports (including skiing so ski slopes can be open)
