On Thursday 18th of March 2021, Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová opened the “Race to Zero in Slovakia: Business” virtual conference together with the British Ambassador to Slovakia, Nigel Baker and with UK High Level Champion for Climate Action, Nigel Topping.

In her speech, the president underlined the importance of collective effort in achieving net zero. “For our climate action to bring benefits for people, economy and nature, we need strong partnerships for innovation and job creation. Because together, we have the resources, technology, and knowledge to address climate crisis and achieve sustainable development.”

According to the president, the science is clear and the latest reports give us warning that there is no time to waste. But they also give us hope that emerging technologies will help us achieve net zero. Everyone’s action counts. The Office of the Slovak President will become climate-neutral by 2030 as the first public institution in Slovakia through clean mobility, zero waste approach, energy efficiency or planting trees.
