CMS was named M&A Legal Adviser of the Year in Central & Eastern Europe and Germany at the Mergermarket European M&A Awards, held in London on 6 December 2018.
The prizes are awarded for creative advisory work on complex transactions. The judging process, which starts with an analysis of M&A league table data to identify the top-ranked firms, is rigorous.
The jury particularly recognised CMS’s leading sector expertise in Central & Eastern Europe in key industries including lifesciences & healthcare and TMT, and the firm’s role in headline transactions in these sectors in 2018; the acquisition of Zentiva by Advent International and the sale of the Central European UPC cable assets by Liberty Global.
Stefan Brunnschweiler, Head of the CMS Corporate/M&A Group said, “At CMS, we are experienced in multi-jurisdictional deals and working in cross-border teams. At the same time, we have deep local expertise in many jurisdictions that allows us to understand our clients’ specific issues for a transaction and provide them with advice within context. So, we are honoured to receive this recognition for our M&A work in Central & Eastern Europe and Germany. Congratulations to our teams for winning the award for M&A Legal Adviser of the Year.“
CMS has more than 1,000 Corporate/M&A lawyers who advise on all aspects of corporate law and transactions across 39 countries. The international CMS teams are regularly ranked top in Europe by Bloomberg, Mergermarket and Thomson Reuters League Tables by number of transactions.
