KOSIT a.s. was established in 2001. It is a technologically innovative company providing professional services in the field of waste management for the communal sector, industry, commerce and also in the area of individual customers. It is one of the most significant rivals in Slovakia dealing with this demanding and socially sensitive industry. Nowadays has KOSIT group several companies. In 2017, the turnover was more than 33 million EUR at an asset value of 79 million EUR. The KOSIT now has nearly 600 employees. At present, the KOSIT deals with waste from 540,000 inhabitants of Slovakia and manages waste management for more than 500 commercial customers.
Employees of the service division monthly perform more than 150,000 handling. In 2017, the company disposed of more than 223,000 tonnes of waste, thanks to which, through the Waste Recovery Facility, it produced 45 GWh of heat and 150,000 GJ of electricity per year. The company thus supplies heat for more than 2,800 households and electricity for nearly 20,000 households.
KOSIT a.s. has been using quality management system, owns ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management certifications and OHSAS 18001 for a number of years.
The company gains experience in waste management at the international level (The Netherlands, Austria, Italy and Czech Republic), then it implements and thus helps economic and social growth in certain area.
Except for comprehensive waste management services for both the public and the commercial sector, KOSIT also provides services in the field of roads maintenance in summer and winter time, green areas maintenance, as well as consultancy related to environmental legislation.
Since its origin, KOSIT has been intensively involved in environmental education. The Environmental Education Centre (CEV), founded in 2007, offers adventure education for children, teenagers and adults in the field of environmental protection, waste treatment and recovery.
Activities are prepared with respect to age, habits, abilities and personal skills. We prefer interactive communication to allow visitors to react immediately. The Environmental Education Centre as the only one provides a professional excursion around premises of incinerator in Kosice with a professional interpretation of services and modern technologies in waste management.
