6. februára 2022 sa kráľovná Alžbeta II. stala prvým britským monarchom v histórii, ktorý nepretržite vládne už sedem desaťročí. Buckinghamský palác predstavil program osláv platinového jubilea 95-ročnej panovníčky. Veľkolepé oslavy sa budú konať priebežne počas celého roka. Ich súčasťou bude vojenská prehliadka, koncert svetových hviezd, pouličné oslavy, či súťaž o vytvorenie nového pudingu na počesť kráľovninho výročia, ktorý sa bude na oslavách i podávať.

Výročie nástupu na trón sa obvykle oslavuje začiatkom leta, a nie vo februári. Dôvodom je priaznivejšie počasie.

Oslavy vyvrcholia počas štyroch dní – 2. – 5. Júna 2022. Zatiaľ nie je presne známe, ktorých podujatí sa kráľovná osobne zúčastní. Vzhľadom na jej zdravotný stav jej lekári neodporúčajú zúčastňovať sa verejných podujatí.

Počas slávnostného obdobia budú pre verejnosť otvorené kráľovnine vidiecke sídla Sandringham v Anglicku a Balmoral v Škótsku. Pri príležitosti platinového jubilea bolo vysadených aj približne 60 000 stromov. Tohtoročné oslavy budú pre panovníčku prvé bez jej manžela princa Philipa, ktorý zomrel minulý rok v apríli.

Alžbeta II. je od septembra 2015 najdlhšie vládnucou panovníčkou v dejinách Británie. Za ňou nasleduje kráľovná Viktória (63 rokov na tróne) a kráľ Juraj III. (59 rokov na tróne).

Kráľovná Alžbeta II. sa ujala vládnutia vo februári 1952 po smrti svojho otca Juraja VI. Slávnostne korunovaná bola 2. júna 1953 vo veku 26 rokov.

On February 6, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II. became the first British monarch in history to rule continuously for seven decades. Buckingham Palace has introduced a program to celebrate the platinum jubilee of the 95-year-old monarch. Magnificent celebrations will take place throughout the year. They will include a military parade, a concert of world stars, street celebrations, and a competition to create a new pudding in honour of the Queen’s anniversary, which will be also served at the celebrations.

The anniversary of the accession to the throne is usually celebrated in early summer, not February. The reason is more favourable weather.

The celebrations will culminate in four days – June 2-5, 2022. It is not yet known exactly which events the Queen will attend in person. Due to her medical condition, her doctors do not recommend attending public events.

During the ceremony, the Queen’s country houses Sandringham in England and Balmoral in Scotland will be open to the public. Approximately 60,000 trees were planted on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee. This year’s celebrations will be the first for the queen without her husband, Prince Philip, who died last year in April.

Elizabeth II has been the longest-reigning monarch in British history since September 2015. She is followed by Queen Victoria (63 years on the throne) and King George III. (59 years on the throne).

Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne after the death of her father George IV. in February 1952. She was ceremoniously crowned on June 2, 1953, at the age of 26.
